Not getting pregnant when pregnancy is desired causes a stressful situation. This stress sometimes causes anxiety and depression. Patients need a medical team that supports them and that they need to learn how to channel this stress and be as relaxed as possible during the treatment.
Our psychologist will help you with the problems that arise. Our psychologist also leads support groups for fertility patients. The goals of our Psychology and Support Unit are as follows:
1. On a first level, the patient will talk to Patient Services to resolve basic problems such as medication, treatments and appointments.
2. If the patient starts feeling overwhelmed by the situation, the psychologist will help them to cope with these feelings.
3. When difficult decisions are being contemplated, such as donor semen or egg donation, sometimes patients need to talk about their doubts and fears. The psychologist will help them decide what is best for them.
4. The psychologist will also evaluate all egg donors to assess the psychological stability of the donor.
